A dental implant is often used in replacing a single missing tooth and in some cases is the only option for restoring the proper functions of a tooth and its supporting structure. Dental implants are also used to create the supporting structure for dental bridges in replacing multiple teeth as well as increasing the stability of dentures by minimizing gum irritation. Unlike dental bridges, a dental implant doesn’t require the preparation of adjacent teeth in its treatment. A titanium screw is used as replacement tooth roots and a dental crown is placed on top above the gum line to give a natural appearance.
